So I started a new commissioned portrait yesterday. This is JJ a little dog whose spine was deliberately broken when she was just a puppy. She is now in a loving home and living life to the fullest on her wheels.
Over the next few days I shall upload photos of the progression of this portrait, so you can see it gradually taking shape. As shown in the videos in my previous blogs, it can take many layers of pastel to reach the desired effect that I want. As I aim for realism, it is imperative that I achieve that realistic quality before I am satisfied with the portrait. Therefore, every stroke, smudge and layer have a purpose in rendering a true likeness of the subject I am painting/drawing.
